Tom Cruise has given his blood and sweat to the Mission Impossible films. Starting from the first film in 1996 to Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2018, every film has created huge waves at the box office. Above all, two more Mission Impossible films are in queue right now and the audience can’t wait for them to hit the cinemas.

In our last Mission Impossible Trivia story, we discussed how Tom Cruise made the ‘knife in the eye’ scene realistic to give the audience real thrill. Today, we are here to tell you something more about his real stunts for the Mission Impossible series.

In the Mission: Impossible II, we saw Tom Cruise hanging on the cliff and then he jumps the rock by making a dive. The scene really gave all of us goosebumps. But do you know, it was a real Tom Cruise and not his body double shooting that scene?

”It was all Tom up there,” producer Paula Wagner has been quoted as saying by EW.com. ”So of course, we had some really nail-biting moments.” he added.

Reportedly, Tom Cruise wanted to shoot the scene on his own even though it was extremely risky director John Woo was mad at him. He used a very thin cable to shoot the scene and a small-scale cliff was constructed by the set department.

Talking about same, John Woo said, ”I was really mad that he wanted to do it, but I tried to stop him and I couldn’t,”

”I was so scared I was sweating. I couldn’t even watch the monitor when we shot it.” he added.

Interestingly, it took a scared John Woo seven takes to film the scene which was shot at Dead Horse Point in Utah. ”We had five cameras on the cliff, including a helicopter camera, a camera on a crane, and cameramen hanging from safety cables, but we had focus problems, so we had to do it again and again,” he said. ”But Tom would say, ‘I’m okay, John, don’t worry, I want to do it one more time.”’

Now that’s really amazing. Isn’t it? Kudos to Tom Cruise!
