Christopher Nolan delivered one of the most loved trilogies with The Dark Knight. Even though the first instalment, Batman Begins, wasn’t a monstrous success, the entire scene changed with the sequel, thanks to Heath Ledger’s legendary ‘Joker’ act.

There was doubt amongst film enthusiasts regarding Heath’s Joker act. No one believed that the actor would be able to topple the bar of performance set by Jack Nicholson’s Joker. But upon its release, the film and especially, Heath’s clown face received highly positive reviews. The portrayal went into the record books as one of the best villains ever.

The Dark Knight emerged as a posthumous blockbuster for Heath Ledger. The film went onto collect over $1 billion globally. But what’s more interesting was that the film crossed the domestic lifetime of its predecessor in mere first six days. Amazing, isn’t it?

Batman Begins which released in 2005, had made $205 million in the domestic market during its lifetime run Speaking of The Dark Knight, the film crossed the numbers by attaining of $222 million in first six days, as per Box Office Mojo.

Meanwhile, in our trivia, we yesterday spoke about Heath Ledger’s Joker and his habit of licking his lips while talking. It indeed made the character more interesting and even intriguing. While many of us thought it was his character trait, it wasn’t so. It wasn’t even planned when the film was being made.

According to Mentalfloss.com, Heath Ledger’s dialect coach Gerry Grennel once opened up about it. Gerry who worked with Heath for The Dark Knight, once said that the tickle arose because of the scar prosthetics which extended into Ledger’s mouth. The makeup would loosen as he performed and in order to keep with it, he licked his lips repeatedly.
