There was a time when actresses in Bollywood hesitated to play mothers like the plague, for fear of being typecast. Not until they reached certain age and lead roles began drying up (another stereotype) that they moved towards motherly characters. However, that seems to have changed in the recent past, and we now have actresses boldly embracing motherhood on screen very early into their film career. Thankfully, the audience perception, too, has changed. Here are 15 actresses who’ve helped break this particular glass ceiling in Bollywood…
Disha Patani played a mother early on in her career in Baaghi 2.
Yami Gautam, too, was seen as a mother quite early into her career in Badlapur.
Ditto for Sonam Kapoor who was seen as a mother in Mausam.
As well as Jacqueline Fernandez who was a mother to hers and Akshay Kumar’s daughter in Brothers.
Though not that early in her career, but Katrina Kaif was seen as a mother in Tiger Zinda Hai, with Salman Khan being the father
