Janhvi Kapoor’s temptress bridal avatar, which was earlier teased, flatters to deceive, the music by Sachin-Jigar fals flat despite singer Asees Kaur trying her level best to infuse some life in Panghat, and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics appear straight out of the pages of a kid’s nursery rhyme
The Panghat song teaser had raised expectations of a fun track, much like Kamariya from Stree, which belongs to the same horror universe as Roohi, envisoned by producer Dinesh Vijan. Alas, it has turned out to be a damp squib, with Janhvi Kapoor’s temptress bridal avatar, which was earlier teased, flattering to deceive, the music by Sachin-Jigar falling flat despite singer Asees Kaur trying her level best to infuse some life in it, and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics appearing straight out of the pages of a kid’s nursery rhyme. Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma do their bit with some hilarious antics, but there’s little they can do when the Panghat song turns out to so bland in all most department.
BL Verdict: Panghat, the first song of Roohi, undoes some of the buzz that the film’s trailer had generated, and we sincerely hope that the forthcoming numbers leave a better taste.
